The cross sountry race was the most exciting. Seamus and I climbed up to the tires to watch the start of the race

We were very suprised to see Eric in 3rd on his way into the tires

He said that while they were going up the race track that he was just doing his own thing. After a while he looked around and he was in front.

He said it kind of freaked him out because he had all of the fastest guys behind him and he knew he wouldn't be able to hold that pace. So he slowed down and started to let them pass him. After he came through the tires Seamus and I headed down to catch him on his first time up the long haul home. Some lame woman was getting on my case for walking down the trail. She talked to me like I was an idiot and told me that the racers would be "going really fast." She played it off as being concerned for my safety but really she didn't want me in any photos she was going to take. She was lame.

At some point we headed over to Hurl Hill. Eric was doing really well but at the top he pulled over next to Seamus and I and said he was going to DNF. I about bit his head off. He said his bike was broken and that his rear cassette kept falling off or something. I told him that if he was able to ride up Hurl Hill then he was surely able to finish the race. He got all mad at me but got back on his bike and kept going.

He was so mad at me that the next time up the Long Haul home he barely even looked over. But after the race he admitted that although he was mad at me, he was glad he finished the race.
